Invisalign is a customize orthodontic appliance used to move your teeth.

It's composed of a series of clear aligners that can be removed while you're eating and when you brush/floss your teeth.

These clear aligners apply pressure to your teeth to move them into the desired position.  With that said, the aligners need to be worn for 20-22 hours/day.

Your treatment plan to move your teeth will be determined by your orthodontist not by Invisalign.  The plan to move your teeth will come from measurements of your teeth and jaws.

Once your treatment plan has been determined, your orthodontist can discuss the "tools" to move your teeth.  These tools can be traditional braces, lingual braces (on the inside of your teeth) or clear aligners (Invisalign).

DON'T BE CONFUSED!  Invisalign is not a treatment plan, it's an instrument to move your teeth.  It will not prevent extractions, it will not prevent surgery.

But, it can be a great appliance to give you a nice smile if you are reluctant to consider traditional braces.
